Sako
Greetings! I'm Sako, a 27 year old, devilishly handsome Quarter Horse and first to join the family. In winter of 2021 Mom was looking for a sweet gentle horse. IT WAS NOT love at first sight for me, but I took a chance on her.
Wow, was she annoying, always talking like a baby, pulling on my mouth like a beginner and blanketing me at first sign of snow or rain. Don't even get me started on all the grooming time! If I wanted to stay clean, I wouldn't roll in the dirt.
She did bring me delicious treats and gave nice head scratches though. I also appreciated the new grain and supplements which gave me energy and helped me gain weight. So as the winter went on, I started to warm up to her and one day when I heard her calling for me in the pasture, smiling ear to ear I was actually excited to see her. That's when I knew we had something special.
As her only horse, Mom kept me busy. We went on trail rides and dressed up for parades. She was proud when the marching band spooked the other horses and I stood like a statue. Been there, done that wisdom.
Even though I love my job, it started getting hard to keep up. When Mom brought Annie home it was nice to have a friend around to share the riding time with. Over time, Mom brought home even more horses and my job as King of the Hill, became even more important with so many youngins to keep in line!
I still have a lot of life left in me but at 27 years old I've earned the right to a lovely retirement home with lots of R&R and that's just what I get as the first Golden Oldie on the farm.
